Following Up During A Pandemic
Hey Job Seeker!
2020 was setting up to be your year, sis! We were drinking our water, minding our business, setting goals, and then... a global pandemic happened and shut all that shiz down! For many of you, obtaining a new position was at the top of your To-Do List and in the midst of your application or directly after your interview, a stay-at-home order left you hanging in the balance. What's a job seeker to do?
See actual footage of me below during the pandemic 👀
Don't fret, my pet - I got you covered! The easiest and most simple way to alleviate your concerns of staying top of mind for the recruiter or hiring manager is to send a quick follow up email a few days to a week after your application/interview. I've included the perfect template for you to do so below!
And while I'm here, unless you've been otherwise instructed, do not follow up with multiple phone calls - especially calling back-to-back and not leaving a message 🙄 Trust me, that is a quick way to get to the bottom of a recruiter's priority list. A follow up email will suffice and a good recruiter will not only appreciate the check-in but the flexibility of getting back to you after they've had the time and space to look into the status of your application or interview (which will make you look good!).
Check out the template below. You can add in whatever you'd like. I'd recommend adding in the date as well as your contact information. You can also personalize it by adding in why you're interested in the role and what makes you a good candidate if this is to follow up on an application or recall your impressions from the interview.
As always, I hope this was helpful! And remember, 2020 is still your year! If there is anything I can do to help you in your job search, let me know 😊 I offer job search and resume services. Head on over to adamsconsultingandservices.com to learn more.
Stay encouraged and happy job hunting!
